As there are few locales where well-groomed turf is more critical than the links, so golf course superintendents are among the most discerning customers for soil amendments. Bloom is delighted, therefore, to boast a 100% satisfaction rate with golf courses using our products to green up even the most challenged of turf.

“We were in need of a product to incorporate in helping us reach a desired level of recovery from summer stress in a short amount of time. We have seen great results in large rough areas as well as small areas, such as the fairway and tee spots,” said Allen Turner, Golf Course Superintendent, Four Streams Golf Course. “Bloom’s Woody Blend mixed with the proper seed gives an instant ‘bang’ and provides prolonged nutrients for the seedlings for a great stand of turf. We are pleased with the results and will continue this great partnership for days to come.”

For Ben Ellis, superintendent of the golf course at Andrews Air Force Base, Bloom was a lifesaver at his previous assignment, Fort Belvoir: getting turf to grow on two holes devoid of any topsoil.

“We had ten acres with zero topsoil and had to essentially grow turf on top of rock– what do you do?” said Ellis. Ellis’ team put down Bloom’s sandy blend in a large broadcast spreader as a standalone product on the rough, fairways and around the greens before seeding with fescue and bluegrass. “Bloom gave us an amazing foundation. The results were a much better playing surface overall; we had grass coming in a dark green color in areas that had never managed to come in well before. There was a very clear-cut line separating where we had applied Bloom from where we hadn’t. Bloom helped retain water better as well,” said Ellis.

Now back at his previous post at Andrews Air Force Base, Ellis plans to use Bloom this spring for the driving range. “It’s good for turf establishment, to topdress with Bloom after we sod – Bloom gives it a little kick.”

Part of the magic in Bloom for the greens is its high organic matter, helping retain moisture, improve cation exchange and offer drought resistance. The high iron levels and slow-release nitrogen in Bloom also contributes to the lush dark growth golf course superintendents and their golfer clientele love.

Bloom is a green solution in more ways than one. It sequesters carbon, recycles precious nutrients and generates renewable energy in the process.
