We love of all the gardeners-in-training working with Bloom this year, including the youngster at DCPS Oyster-Adams Bilingual School pictured here.
As teacher Carla Ferris explained, “This year, we were lucky enough to find ourselves in a swing space with 25 garden beds just waiting to be planted — with one problem! The soil was extremely degraded, and mostly clay. One of our parents, a DC Master Gardener, told us about the Bloom program and explained that Bloom could be mixed in to rejuvenate our soil and help our garden to thrive.
Our students weeded the existing beds, distributed Bloom into all of the beds, grew hundreds of seedings inside the classroom, and then planted the seeds in our refreshed beds. The results have been stunning! Our garden is gorgeous, and has been a delight to students, families, and staff. We are now planning our fall crops, and are beginning to harvest our summer crops. Our experience with using Bloom has been absolutely fantastic!”
