We love seeing Bloom put to good ecological use! Payne Elementary School‘s Parent, Teacher and Student Association won a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust to help address stormwater runoff that was damaging the building, covering the sidewalk with water causing it to be impassible as well as carrying pollutants into the river.
The grant used DC Water’s Bloom to help amend the compacted and nutrient-deficient soil on the school grounds, which will feed the rain garden’s native plants, set to flower throughout multiple seasons.
