It was a tough year for Maryland farmers, fighting droughts, heat waves and now floods, but with the help of Bloom, William Rice of Rock Hall Farm weathered the storms.

A resident of Newburg, William currently tills 350 acres of corn, soybeans and wheat. Despite difficult weather conditions, the veteran farmer got yields of up to 200 using Bloom. “Bloom was a help during the drought for sure. Compared to the ground without it, the Bloom acreage made it through the drought better with healthier, leafier growth,” says William.

“I felt Bloom would be beneficial to soil health and provide the necessary nutrients to grow a crop of corn. Before that, I used all commercial fertilizer. Now pairing Bloom with commercial fertilizer, I’ve gotten micronutrients and soil enhancement. Being a slow-release product, so I also get long-term results from Bloom all season,” William, who has been farming for over 50 years, explains.

William also participates in a USDA program called EQIP (Environmental Quality Incentives Program). “We plant a certain number of acres with sunflowers to help bees with pollination, and wildlife as well. I think the program is extremely worthwhile. I used Bloom on the sunflowers and they seemed to really like it,” he says.
