Bloom is excited to share an amazing opportunity for community growers to utilize free space at the greenhouse at Blue Plains.
In 2024, Bloom partnered with non-profit organizations Building Bridges Across the River and DPR Communal Farms to grow over 6,000 seedlings in our greenhouse. These Bloom-grown seedlings went to gardens across DC to increase access to fresh produce and educational opportunities. Bloom now looks to expand the opportunity to other organizations in 2025.
The DC Water Greenhouse Cooperative program provides greenhouse access to support community-based urban agriculture, while providing a space to practice and learn about the benefits of growing with Bloom, DC Water’s recycled soil amendment. Applications will be collected on a rolling basis, with members for spring/summer 2025 announced in early February.
