In a special Earth Month series of “Matt About Town,” WTOP’s Matt Kaufax visited the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant to report on Bloom and its many benefits for the planet.
During his tour of the Blue Plains facility, Matt learned from DC Water’s Director of Resource Recovery Chris Peot about the process of turning 320 million gallons of wastewater into 450 tons of fertilizer every day. The series included a feature on how Bloom is made, another on our beekeeping operation, and a final piece on how we clean and convert the wastewater into clean water and energy.
