“The best farmer in town told me I was fertilizing all wrong, and that I would be stupid if I didn’t use Bloom,” said Richard Zagrodnichek, laughing, when asked how he came to try biosolids for the first time in his 10 years of farming.
Richard took the farmer’s advice last year, making the switch from liquid chemical fertilizer to Bloom alone. He is in the process of spreading Bloom again this year (pictured above), looking forward to more great results.
“The yield difference has been drastic – probably overall 75% higher with Bloom,” the Nanjemoy, Maryland farmer said. “I did a side by side comparison using Bloom on one field and another with Nutrien liquid fertilizer; the Bloom field more than doubled in yield. And after deer hit some of my corn hard, the plants were still healthy.”
Richard currently farms 100 acres, down from 600 (because that scale was crazy-making, says the farmer), focusing on commodity crops, corn, wheat, soybeans, and sorghum. Incorporating Bloom into his nutrient management plan was easy, he said.
